nightsoil and house refuse and rubbish, and any other similar matters, or of any one or more of these matters from premises within the said Town District or any part thereof, no occupier of any premises or any other person shall remove from any .premises within any area as to which such contract shall be subsisting any nightsoil, house refuse, rubbish, or other similar matters or any one or more cf these matters as to which such ccnTact shall relate, or suffer the same to be removed except by such contractor, his servants or agents ; and the owner or occupier of the premises from which such nightsoil, hou:e refuse, rubbish or other similar matters, or any one or more of these matters as aforesaid shall have been removed by the contractor shall pay to the contractor the fees fixed by the Council.

Stables. 31. No stable shall be situated within fifteen feet of any house, shop, factory, workshop, or place of worship. But nothing in this clause contained shall be deemed to forbid any persons in charge of horses or cattle sleeping or residing in any room forming part pf or contiguous to any stable, notwithstanding that such room may be within fifteen feet of such stable. 32. No occupier shall deposit any dung, manure, filth, or other noxious matter from any stable or permit the same to be deposited on his premises within fifteen feet of any house, shop, factory, workshop, place of worship, or street. 33. Where the entrance or door to any stable is in a street, such stable shall be so constructed and fitted that no animal placed therein shall be less than fifteen feet from such entrance or door unless by permission in writing from the Council. 34. Any ventilator or other opening (other than an entrance or-door); in the wall of a stable bounding, or within five feet of a street-;shall be placed at least seven feet above the level of the street. 35. The occupier of any premises whereon there.is a stable shall cause all dung, manure, filth, or other noxious matter produced or being in such stable to be removed from the stable once at least in every twenty-four hours, and shall keep such stable as clean and free from smell as possible. Pig- Styes.

36. No person shall keep swine within the Te Kuiti Town District unless duly licensed by the Council so to do. Every person proposing to keep swine shall make written application to the Council, and with such application submit a plan of the proposed position of the stye, showing its nearest distance to any house, shop, factory, workshop, place of worship, or street. The Inspector of Nuisances shall then inspect the locality and report in writing to the Council. The annual fee for a license to keep swine shall be Five Shillings, and no license shall be issued to keep swine within a distance of three chains of any house, shop, factory, workshop, place of worship or street. Ail pig styes shall be well and substantially built and properly drained, and the floor thereof shall be of good sound timber, or of brick, concrete or other impermiable material. All pig styes shall be thoroughly cleansed at least once in each week, and the Council may at any time during the currency of the license, cancel the same upon being satisfied that the stye is not properly constructed, or is not kept in a clean state, or that the keeping of pigs in the circumstances is likely to become a nuisance or dangerous to health. Poultry. 37. No poultry shall be kept in any part of the Te Kuiti Town District except in properll constructed poultry houses, or in a suitably enclosed run attached thereto, and no such poultry houses shall be built less than fifteen feet from any dwelling, or from any public or private street or public place. All poultry runs, of whatever size, shall be so enclosed as to confine the poultry within the premises of the owner thereof, and within the limits of such owner's boundaries as herein defined. Should any poultry house or poultry run existing at the coming into force of this By-law or any poultry-house or run constructed in accordance with this By-law cause a nuisance or injury to health owing to its mode of construction, or by reason of the over-crowding of such poultry house or poultry run, or by reason of the want of sufficient ventilation and cleanliness, then, and in every case, it shall be the duty of the owner of such poultry house or poultry run, upon notice being served upon him by the Inspector of Nuisances so to do and within a time by such notice limited, to execute and do such works and things as may be necessary to abate such nuisance and as may be specified in such notice. All poultry houses shall be well limewashed at least once in every six months by the occupier of the premises.

Expectoration. 38. No person shall spit, expectorate, discharge, drop or place any spittle, saliva, excrementitious or other offensive matter upon, any footpath or footway or in any licensed vehicle. Sewage Tanks. 39. No person shall make or construct any sewage tank unless the same is made, constructed and placed and provided with fittings and appliances as provided by this By-law. 40. No occupier shall permit any sewage tank to be used upon his premises unless such sewage tank is made, constructed and placed and provided with the fittings and appliances as provided by this By-law. 41. Every sewage ! tank shall be well and substantially constructed of concrete, bricks or stone and faced with cement and shall be water-tight and so constructed that none of the contents thereof can escape except by the proper channel provided for the effluent. 42. Eveiy sewage tank shall be provided with a suitable subsoil irrigation system or filter bed for the effectual aeration and purification of the effluent from such sewage tank or unless such effluent is led by means of sealed water-tight drain pipes to the river and discharged at a point not less than I J /< feet below the sur-
