Land Board Election.
TO THE EDITOR. SIR, —Might I, through the medium of your paper, bring under the notice of the King Country settlers the nomination of Mr Shaw as a candidate for the seat on the Land Board. Mr Shaw is the Chairman of the Kawhia County Council, and is a thoroughly competent man for the position. He has been a BUSH settler for twenty-eight years, and has now a section in the famous Kinohaku block —the land that was withdrawn from the optional tenure and put up under the l.i.p. only, so it is almost needless to state that he is a great advocate of the optional tenure in all bush lands. It would be only fitting that the settlers' member on "the Land_ Board should come from the great King Country, which is composed of practically all bush settlements, and I think a better man than Mr Shaw could not be found. Mr Shaw will get very solid support from the Kawhia district, and I think if the King Country settlers were to record their votes in his favour, there would be no doubt that he would be returned at the head of the poll.—l am, etc., ALFRED W. BABBAGE. Hauturu, Kawhia, 2/2/08.
