N.Z. FARMERS' UNION.

Branch formed at Te Kuiti.

The members of the new branch met on Wednesday evening when the total of names given in for membership was swelled to twenty, and the following officers were elected :—President, Mr T. Boddie ; vice-president, Mr M. A. Mackenzie ; secretary, Mr L. Mackenzie ; executive committee, Messrs H. J. Mussen and W. Price.

It was decided that the date of next meeting should be fixed by the President, Vice-President and Secretary. The forthcoming Land Board election was discussed, and the following resolution was passed : ,: i hat this branch uses its best endeavours to secure the election of Mr Teasdale as a member of the Auckland Land Board/' It was further decided that the Secretary be instructed to communicate with the secretaries of other branches of the Union and respectfully ask them to use their influence to get the other candidates from this district to retire.

It was pointed out by the Chairman that no effort should be lost to endeavour to secure the return of a candidate from this district. Mr Teasdale was a widely known man, both here and in Waikato, and had an excellent chance of being returned. In the interests of the district it was advisable to have only one candidate standing from this district, and the man with the widest sphere had most chance of election. Probably by representing the case to the other candidates in a proper manner, they would be induced to support Mr Teasdale's candidature in the interests of the whole district.

Mr Teasdale made a short speech and thanked those present for their support.
