TARANAKI LAND BOARD.

A meeting of the Taranaki Land Board was held at New Plymouth on Tuesday, January 2lst. There were present: The Commissioner of Crown Lands (presiding), and Messrs Heslop, Connett, Rattenbury, and McCluggage. The following business of interest to the King Country was transacted :

Transfers approved: J. Walsh to F. Hurley, section 11, block 11, Totoro ; R. Barrett to E. Mossman, sec2, block 3, Ohura ; H. F. McDonald toW. J. McAvady, section 6, block 7, Ohura ; A. Swallow to J. & R. Morris, section 2, block 16, Ohura ; H. McLeod to N. Mackenzie, section 5, block 5, Aria. The application of L. B. Hirst, for the transfer of section 8, block 5, Ohura, was deferred for the ranger's report.

Application for freehold : A. Barrett wrote intimating his desire to purchase the freehold of his 1.i.p., section I, block 13, Aria, and asked if a valuation of the land would be necessary, as it had only been occupied a short time. —Deferred until the necessary forms should be complied with. General : R. O'Connell applied for the issue of his lease of section 2, block I, Aria. —Agreed 'to. Mary Williams applied for an extension of time for residence on Section 9, block 5, Ohura. —Resolved that residence must be taken up within three months or forfeiture. E. Townshend applied for the purchase of section 8, block 10, Aria, for a dairy factory siteDeferred. J. W. and G. H. Etherington applied for a remission of rent on section 3, block 11, Ohura. —Refused. C. J. Riddle applied for grazing on section 13, block 2, Aria, and section 7, block 10, Totoro. —Deferred for ranger's report. Mrs C. H. Hope and B. McFarlane applied for a further extension of time to reside on sections 4 and 8, block 9, Ohura, owing to the Roads Department having deviated their road frontage and rendered it uncertain where to fence their clearing.—Resolved that residence must be taken up within three months.
