Qn Thursday evening. January Qth, the Tc Kuiti Oddfellows held a quarterly night in the Congregational Church. There was an extremely good attendance, and several importr ant matters in connection with the Lodge were discussed. It is gratifying to learn that, despite the fact th%t . the branch has just been established, it is already in a sound financial position. This is due to the loyal support tendered by the initial members, and the rapidly increasing membership of the lodge. Five new. members proposed at the nj beting, and a number of applications have been received from country residents, which will be dealt with as soon as the usual medical examination can be arranged. Several of the out-back settlers arc * joining for the sake of the insurance in case of accident, and there is every indication that this course will be followed by a large number. Naturally the. social aspect, as well as thp benefit side of the lodge is proving attractive, but uritil the roatl communication with the proved, the social advantagesJßmnot be availed of except in siimijw tihic.
