PIRONGIA RACES.

The Alexandra Racing Club held its annual meeting at Pirongia on Boxing Day, being favoured with splendid weather, the recent heavy rains making the going all that could be desired. Great credit is due to the staff, especially the Secretary, Mr C. C. Berry, who managed the meeting in a businesslike manner. Mr A. Rennie occupied the Judge's box, the starting being in the hands of the popular Te Awamutu coach proprietor, Mr M. Laurie. iThe programme opened with the Maiden Hurdle Race, which went to Harkaway after an exciting finish, the Insomnia gelding getting home by half-a-length. The Maiden Plate saw five face the starter, the result being in favour of King, in a good finish, by a head. Next came the Cup, four horses lining up, a good race ending in favour of Te Taniwha, after a stirring fiinish with Pukenui. The Matakitaki Stakes saw old Fabricator in the van, losing his certificate as a maiden in a ding-dong finish, winning by a neck. In the Handicap Hurdles the veteran Fieramosca was awarded the place of honour, The Alexandra Bracelet saw the useful mare Te Taniwha winning comfortably. In the Flying Stakes three lined up, a good race ending in favour of Pukenui. The following are the results; — Maiden Hurdles, \Vi miles.
