Te Kuiti Cemetery.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I noticed in a recent issue of your paper a letter, signed " J.F.W.," in reference to the delapidated state of our cemetery. I don't know who is responsible for the present position of the cemeteiy, and admitting that it is a good distance away, it is quite close enough to the township There are a lot more important things that could be done if people were only energetic and anxious to beautify the township, but the idea of bringing " God's acre " any closer is a proposal which will not receive much sympathy from the majority of the townspeople. Of course it would be very nice if it was a little nearer, but as soon as the Mangaorino loan money is expended we will have an excellent road, and the distance will not seem far. However, there would be no harm in starting a subscription list, but at the same time I think it is a matter for the trustees to attend to, and not the ladies. Have we not enough to look after at present ? "J. F.W." has evidently forgotten that another Church bazaar is being vigorously organised, besides, Christmas is approaching, and I, for one, must say that my hands are full. —I am, etc., LADY RESIDENT.
