The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report as follows : On Tuesday, December 3 l "d, we yarded 800 head of cattle at Qhaupo, >vhen grown steers, in fresh condition, sold' well throughout, but young cattle were easier. Forward 3%-year steers made from £6 15s to £6 18s, fresh 3-year steers £5 5s to £5 17s 6d, steers £4 4s to £4 16s, 18month to 2-year steers £2 14s to £3 10s, yearlings £2 Is to £2 7s, mixed yearlings £l 15s to £2 6s, empty heifers £2 4s to £3 3s, cows near calving up to £6 10s. At Karapiro (near !if Cambridge) on Wednesday, December 4th, we held a clearing sale on account of Mr Geo. J. Neal, and report a most successful sale. Bidding was very brisk throughout, and cows, which were very choice, realised from £7 15s to £l3 s=, averaging over £lO each. Yearling haltbred Ayrshire heifers £2 14s, freshconditioned cows £3 I2s. Vehicles, implements, etc., realised very satisfactory prices.
The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company ; Limited, report as follows |_— _At Te Kuiti, on Wednesday, December nth, we yarded 2559 head of cattle, the yards being completely filled, and a number of pens had to fee refilled to accommodate the number. There was a large attendance, and bidding was "brisk, _ although prices were perhaps not quite up to Waikato prices. Fresh-conditioned 3 and 3/2-year steers brought from £5 I2s 6d to £6 4s, backward steers (same age) £5, 2% to 3-year steers £4 ios to £5 6s, 18-month and 2-year steers £3 2s 6d to £4 is, 12 and 15month steers £2 to £2 16s, mixed sexes (same age) 35s to 435, 2-year very choice empty heifers £2 17s to £3 3s, yearling heifers 32s to 43s 6d, fat cows £5.
