HONIKIWI.
The Rev. Mitchell, of Te Kuiti, held a service in Mr Budden's house on Wednesday last. The thanks of the community are due to Mr Budden for having placed his house at the disposal of the settlers for such services, until such time as the J school building is erected, the timber for which has
been paid for by the settlers, and has been on the ground since last summer. * Until the Education Board confirm , their promise, and provide a teacher, the children of the district have to grow up in ignorance. With the advent of fine weather settlers are endeavouring to make up for lost time caused by the very wet spring and the influenza. Each section holder is getting down a piece of bush, the total area of which should be greater this season than ever before. The very rough weather at lambing time caused considerable loss, but in spite of this some have a very good percentage. Mr Howe, of Pirongia, who has a section here, intends bringing in his sawmill if the roads will permit. The advantage to settlers will be very - considerable, and no doubt he will be strongly supported in his- business enterprise.
