The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report as follows : On Wednesday, 13th inst., at Rangiriri, we yarded nearly 1500 head of cattle, and report a most successful sale. A large attendance of buyers bid up freely, and everything was quitted at ruling prices. Fresh-con-ditioned 3Vz to 4-year steers realised from £7 2s 6d to £8 ; fresh 3-year steers £5 15s to £6 15s 6d ; 2-year-old steers £3 14s to £4 7s 6d : 18-month steers £2 is 6d to £3 8s ; yearling to 15-month steers £2 5s to £2 14s; mixed yearlings £2 to £2 I2s ; 2-year heifers £1 15s to £2 10s ; quiet 2-year dairy heifers £2 17s to £3 5s ; freshconditioned cows £2 16s to £3153; fat cows £5 5s to £6 lOs ; springing heifers £4 to £5 lOs. On Thursday, November 14th, we held our Hamilton Spring Cattle Fair, and yarded over 600 head fat and store cattle. Fat steers realised from £8 15s to £9 7s 6d; lighter weights £7 lOs to £8 2s 6d ; fat cows and heifers £5 15s to £6 IOs; aged cows £4 lOS to £5 15s; 2Vz to 3-year steers in poor condition £4 19s to £5 Is ; 2-year steers £3 7s to £3 16s ; 18month steers £2 15s to £3 3s ; 12 to 15-month steers £2 4s to £2 I2s; mixed yearlings £l 17s 6d to £2 3s ; fresh-conditioned cows and heifers £2 18s to £3 12s ; springing heifers £4 15s to £5 lOs ; good cows near calving £7 5s to £8 ; fat shorn hoggets 19s. Pigs sold well —weaners lOs 6d to 15s, slips 19s to 235, sows in pig £2 lOs to £3.
The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report: —We held our annual Ohaupo spring cattle sale last Tuesday, and have to report a most successful sale; 2820 cattle of all classes were yarded, far beyond the accommodation of the Loan Co's and our own yards, the latter having to be refilled. Notwithstanding this we finished selling at 5 p.m. There was a large attendance, buyers being present from all parts of the district. Bidding was brisk from start to finish, the ruling prices being fully maintained right through. 1849 3 and year steers were yarded. These were all well grown of good quality and in good condition and were required. Fat 4-year steers made £7 lOs to £9; forward 4 and 4%-year steers, £6 4s to £7 5s ; 3 and 3%-year steers, £4 18s to £5 15s ; 2 and 2%-year steers, £3 18s to £4 15s ; 18-months steers; £3 4s to £3 15s ; good yearling steers, £2 lOs to £2 17s ; mixed yearlings, 35s to £2 2s ; fresh empty cows, £3 6s to £4 2s 6d; store cows, £2 6s to £3 3s; empty 2 and heifers, £2 12s to £3 15s ; choice 18-month heifers, £3 Is to £3 5s ; yearling heifers, 37s 6d; springing cows, £5 lOs ; hoggets, 17s 9d.
