PIO PIO CRICKET CLUB.
An enthusiastic representative meeting was held at MrAnderson's boarding house, Paemako, an Saturday evening November 2nd, for the purpose of forming a cricket club in the district. Mr G. Elliott, who was voted to the chair briefly expained the object of the meeting and the matter was taken up with enthusiasm. It was resolved to form a club, to be known as the Piopio Cricket Club. The following officers were elected : —Patron —W. T. Jennings, Esq., M.H.R.; Secretary and Treasurer —J. Anthony ; President —N. I. Hunt; Vice-Presidents — D. Anderson, W. Churcher, R. Bayley, V. Hattaway, Major Lusk, T. Wetere, P. Cochrane, E. Weir, G. Gleadow, F. Sincock ; Committee — Messrs Robison, Lusk, Hunt, Kendall, Connell, Trust, Smerdon, Sunvick, and Nicholson ; Captain —G. Elliott. Resolved to leave the appointment of a selection committee over till some practice had been indulged in. The membership fee was fixed at five shillings, eleven making themselves financial forthwith. The Ground Committee was instructed to inspect a ground kindly offered by Mr Sincock. It was decided to commence practice on Saturday,' November 16th, at 3 p.m. sharp. The Secretary was instructed to communicate with Messrs Partridge and Co., re purchase of material. It was also decided to meet again on the evening of the first practice to discuss other matters in connection with the club. The meeting terminated with a social evening, and a hearty vote of thanks to Mr Anderson for the use of his room.
