OTOROHANGA.

<► On Friday last, the Committee of the Anglican Bazaar brought off a most successful "basket" social, in aid of the Bazaar funds. Much interest was taken in the sale of baskets, and many fetched good figures, ten of them ranging from 10s to 30s, and giving an average of 10s all round. Twenty-six in all were sold, and £l2 4s was the cash result. With the door takings nearly £ls was obtained. Mrs Holden supplied the music for the dance, which wound up at 3 a.m., everyone departing after a thoroughly enjoyable evening's amusement. The first meeting of the Otorohanga Domain Board was held last week. There were present: Messrs F. E. Lowe, J. Ormsby, C.J.Johnson, and F. Forster. Mr Vicary was unable to attend through illness. Mr Johnson waV'elected Chairman. The advisability of taking early steps to improve the Domain area was discussed, and it was decided to go over the ground and judge what is best to be done. There are about 38 acres and these consist of both high and low land, and contain a pretty piece of Native bush. The Maniapoto-Tuwharetoa Native Land Board is holding a sitting here this week. Influenza is rife, and attacks the adults with much severity. Mr J. Wylie, a son of Mr Wylie, of Pukejaraia, has succumbed to an attack.
