STOCK SALES.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report as follows : On Monday and Tuesday, July Bth and 9th, we held our first special horse sale at the Ngaruawahia yards. The weather was extremely rough and wet both days. Keen competition ruled throughout for all sound medium young draughts—especially mares — and also useful hacks and buggy mares. Heavy draughts were inclined to be dull of sale unless from 3 to 6- , year-old unbroken, which realised from £22 to £3l 10s, 2-year-olds of same class £l6 10s to £l9, draught foals £l6 each, useful harness sorts . £l2 to £lB, light colts £5 to £9 10, heavy draught mares and geldings £3B to £4O, active draught mares and geldings £25 to £3l ios, aged heavy draughts £2O to £3B, upstanding hacks and buggy horses £l7 to "£23, useful harness sorts £8 ios to £l4, cobs and ponies £5 5 s to £lO 10s, weeds £l 5s to £3 iQs, tip drays £9 to Jt £l2 lOs, stallion " Merrymaker " £ll. ▼ At our Hamilton sale on Thursday, the yarding was not so large as usual but everything sold at the hammer except the line of grade cows _ and speyed heifers, which are for private sale. Steer beef £8 ios, fat heifers £5 I2s 6d, fat cows £6 ss. All beef sold. Store steers £5 12s 6d, 18month empt} r heifers £l 15s to £2 2s, ' " small calves I2s to 14s, hoggets 16s 3d, store do. us, ewes in lamb 16s lOd. forward ewes 15 s.
