OTOROHANGA.

On Sunday evening last, after Church service, a meeting was held for the purpose of discussing the advisability of holding a bazaar. There . was a good attendance, and Mesdames Burnand and Lowe, and Misses Johnson, Jennings and Taylor were appointed a committee to organise the project and arrange all preliminaries in connection therewith. The date for holding the bazaar was not fixed, as the preparatory work will probably take some months. However, a great amount of interest was shown by those present, and with an energetic and capable commitlte there is little doubt of the undertaking being carried to a most successful issue. The state of the local roads is as usual at this time of the year, and the recent rainfall has not tended to improve them. Some of our most progressive settlers have been attending to one or two of the worst places, including the approach to the bridge over the river, which was in a veiy bad state. We are hoping that a new bridge will be taken in hajid before very long, either by the Country Council or the Government. The work is of great importance to the whole district, and no stone should be left unturned in the endeavour to have the work carried out.
