FIRE AT ONGARUE.
Railway Station Destroyed,
A disastrous and unusual event occurred at Ongarue on Monday night last, when the railway station was completely destroyed by fire. In addition to the destruction of the building, the loss in goods was very considerable, there being about three tens of material stored at the station awaiting removal to the out-districts. The business people and settlers of the Ohura will, it is said, suffer severely, most of the goods being destined for that district" So far the cause of the fire remains a mystery, but considering the circumstances surrounding the case, and the improbability of accidental cause, it is concluded" by many that the occurrence was due to incendiarism. Up till a late hour there were no signs of fire at the station, but about I a.m. flames broke out, and in a short time the building was reduced to ruins.
