FOOTBALL.
In view of the approaching representative matches it has been decided by the Maniapoto Rugby Union to hold a trial game on Saturday next, between A and B teams. An excellent ground has been secured on the property of Mr R. Somerville, who has kindly granted the use of his paddock to the Union. The A team will play in maroon jerseys, and the B team in black and white. The members of the Te Kuiti Club are requested to forward their jerseys to Mr Power on Saturday morning. A slight alteration has been made in the B team, Moir having been selected to play at five-eights instead of D. Hetet. Players are requested not to climb, or go through the fences to the football ground. The representative team to meet the King Country Union reps, at Taumarunui, on July 20th, will be chosen on Saturday evening next, in order to give players in the out districts the earliest opportunity of ascertaining the final choice. The Piopio-Oparure match originally fixed for July 6th, has been postponed until the 27th. A meeting of the Union will be held ii Mr Kerr's commercial room on Saturday night, at 8 p.m.
