TARANAKI LAND BOARD.

+ — The usual monthly meeting of the Taranaki Land Board was held on June 2lst, when there were present: The Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr F. Simpson), Messrs Connett, Heslop, and McCluggage. The following business of interest to the King Country was dealt with: — Applications for land : Section 8, block 5, Aria, 521 acres, was granted to R. P. Coburn and E. Banfield on lease in perpetuity.

Transfers : Section 2, block 7, Aria, G. L. Morgan to M. Healy; section 6, block ?, Ohura, J. McKay to W. T. McKay." Leases issueel: C. -W. T. Heath, section 9, block 2, Ohura; J. Buntain, section 7, block 9, Totoro. Exemption from rent: R. W. Adams was granted exemption from rent for a section at Aria. Sections withdrawn : In accordance with a report of the ranger (E. Tolme), it was .decided to recommend that section 26, block 13, and sections 21 and 22, block 14, Ohura, should be withdrawn from the improved farm settlement conditions and offered in larger areas. Selectors In default: L. B. Hirst; section 8, block 5, Ohura, sent no reply to a notice concerning non-resi-dence. The Board decided to require him to show cause why his section should not be forfeited. Lyon Bros., section I, block 4, Ohura, asked for an extension of time to enable them to build a new house. —Six months extension was granted. E. Jamieson, section 6, block 9, Ohura, asked for twelve months' exemption from residence. It was decided that unless he was on the section in three months it would be forfeited.

Improved farm settlers' cases were dealt .with as follows: —C. J. Ryan, section 12, block 2, Ohura, sent no reply to a notice concerning non-resi-dence. — Consideration was deferred for further inquiry. J. Collins, section 9, block 9, Totoro, wrote promising to take up his residence immediately.—The ranger was instructed to report, J. Kenny, section 11, block 2, Aria, explained that he was unable to reside on his section owing to illness in his family.—The explanation was deemed satisfactoiy. J. McDonald, section 4, block 15, Aria, promised to reside on his section as soon as the bridge over the Ohura river at Niho Niho was erected. —F. Kearns, section 8, block I, Aria, asked for six months' exemption from residence, ag he was pit-sawing tinker- for himself and other- setters—The Board agreed tp defer action.
