FOOTBALL QUERIES.
TO THE EDITOR. SIR,—I have just finished reading your account of the meeting of the Maniapoto Rugby Union, held on the Ist inst. Can you tell me why it was decided that the Clubs, at present competing for the caps, should Jae asked to play another round, seeing that the two rounds at first decided to be played are not yet completed ? I think that the action of the Union is very premature. Why was this decision arrived at immediately after the defeat of the Te Kuiti team by Oparure? Would it have happened had the Te Kuiti team won? It looks very much as if Te Kuiti, when beaten, wants "it over again." There are still two matches of the second round to be played, viz., Te Kuiti v. Piopio, and Oparure v. Piopio. What will be the position should Piopio beat Te Kuiti, and Oparure beat Piopio ? Oparure will then have won three games out of four, and should not be asked to play again. Has the Union the right to decide that another round shall be played unitil the result of the second round is known ?—I am, etc., " FAIR PLAY ALL ROUND." Oparure, 7/6/07-
