ARIA.

The season so far has been a splendid one, and feed has been quite plentiful up to the present. This means a good start for the winter as far as stock is concerned, and all classes should do well in consequcr.ee. We have a grievance to ventilate against the Roads Department. The restrictions placed cn carting cs Jar as the roads are affected, h?.ve_ come rather soon, and several tons of goods are congested at Te Kuiti in consequence. The least the department could have done was to have given people ample notice of the impending restriction. Last year _ the settlers - were not troubled in this way, and the idea, coming as an innovation, was rather a surprise to many, who will now have to pack out their goods at considerable expense. Considerable improvements are being made in the district. Mr S. Riddle's house is about completed, and Mr Williamson and Mr Bennett, of Kaeaea, are having timber sawn for their houses. Mr Ellwood, a new arrival, has built a house on the Paro road, and is a welcome addition to our community. Mr Finnigan has also completed his house on the Paro road, and is residing there now. * The meeting for the purpose of endeavouring to form a branch of the Farmers' Union, was very poorly attended on account of the inclement weather. It was decided to postpone the meeting until next week.
