An instance of the high railway freights, which business people in inland towns have to pay, is to be found in the fact that a Masterton Ifirm recently paid £8 3s '9d freight on 10,000 feet of piping from England to New Zealand, while the railway freight between Wellington and Masterton amounted to £9 16s.
