STOCK SALES.
Messrs McNicol and Co., report as follows: — At our opening sale, held at Matiere on April 19th, we offered just over 750 head of cattle, and although we have no yards there, the settlers had kindly put in a few days' work, and provided a few pens and drafting yards for the occasion, and this enabled all the cattle to be offered in lots. There was a very large attendance of neighbouring settlers, and a number of Waikato farmers also went out. Prices were much in line with Waikato, and, although we did not effect a clearance of all the stock, the majority sold and remained with local buyers.
