STOCK SALES.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Ltd., report as follows : Qn Wednesday, March 13th, at Ohaupo, we held our second sheep fair of the season, and yarded 4600 sheep and lambs. A large attendance of buyers were present from Tauranga, Paeroa, Te Kuiti, Kawhia and all parts of the Waikato. The demand was brisk throughout for all classes, but especially for soundmouthed breeding ewes, the prices for this class ruling higher than at our first fair. With the exception of about three pens of aged ewes and one pen of fat wethers, all were sold at the hammer or afterwards. Fat lambs realised from I2s 6d to 13s /d ; forward lambs, lOs 6d to I2s 3d ; fat and forward shorn lambs, 9 s 3d to I2s ; culls, 6s to 7s 3d ; fat ewes, 14s 6d to 16s 9d ; fat and forward wethers, 15s 3d to 16s 6d; 2-tooth ewes, 17s 6d to 18s 3d ; large framed fresh full-mouth ewes, 16s 6d to 19s 3d (one line of 1300 from Rangitikei, 19s 3d); good woollen fresh fullmouth Napier ewes, 16s iod to 18s 7d ; from local sellers, 15s 6d to 18s 4d; full-mouthed Napier ewes, 14s ?d to 16s 3d ; merino ewes, lOs. A large number of rams offered, the demand being up to that of the sheep, especially for English Leicesters and Romneys, only 10 -2-tooth Leicesters remaining unsold. Forty 2-tooth Romneys realised 4'Mgns to s%gns ; 70 English Leicester 2 and 4-tooth made 6gns ; 6 and 8-tooth Leicesters, l%gns to 3S 11S 5 Shropshires, to 3£'ns ; Shropshires, l%gns to 2§4gns. A number.of aged Lincoln and Leicesters made £'l to £1 lOs.
