MANGAROA.
A public meeting was held at Mangaroa on March Bth, to discuss medical matters. Several proposals ■were advanced and finally Dr Rowlands agreed to take £2OO per annum and a free house. Mr Hyde, of Matiere, offered to let his dwelling, and the offer was accepted by the Medical Committee. Steps are being taken to try and erect a dwelling at Mangaroa, in which the doctor will live as soon as completed. Some excitement was caused here last week from the fact that a lady having followed a horse into the bush lost her way.- She was rescued several hours after her disappearance none the worse for her outing. Mr Robinson, one of our latest settlers, is having a blacksmith's shop erected in the township, and hopes to have it open in a few days. Quite a lot of grass seed, sent by the Government and intended for the improved farm settlers, is being distributed throughout the district, and l hear that a large quantity of wire is to follow shortly. This be a great boon to those who receive it.
