TIROA.

A social gathering was held in the Tiroa Hall on Saturday evening last in the form of a farewell to Mr and Mrs Newbv, who are leaving here for Manunui. During their residence here they have made many friends and the hall was taxed to its utmost capacity. Mr A. Henderson acted as M.C., and the music was supplied by Mr C. Hadden, both gentlemen performing their duties admirably. Great credit is due to Mesdames Muir, Henderson, Saunders and Butcher, who left nothing undone in the line of catering. At intervals, songs were rendered by Mr Adamson and Mr Scanlon, and the " cake walk" was performed by Mr Fields, the latter gentleman being loudly applauded. Mr J. Phillips, on behalf of the company, expressed their regret in losing a good Mr Newby, on behalf of himsai&and wife, thanked the organisers kindness and mark of esteem.
