♦ - The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Limited, report as follows : On Tuesday, February I2th, we held our ordinary Ohaupo Cattle Sale, and yarded about 400 head cattle. Well-grown calves and steers up to 18 months, were in full demand, but grown steers were at lower values. 3-year fresh steers, £4 19s ; 2-year steers, £3 3s to £3 6s; 15 to 18-month steers, £2 3s to £2 5s ; yearlings, £1 16s to £2 ; Calves, £l 6s to £l 10s. On the following day we held our annual first Sheep Fair, and yarded close on I/,000 sheep and rams. Brisk competition ensued throughout for all classes, only three pens of wethers and a few ewes remaining unsold. Fat wethers, 16s gd to 19s 6d ; fat ewes, 15s to 18s 6d ; fat lambs, 12s 9d to 14s ; forward lambs, lOs 6d to 13s 3d ; stores, 8s 3d to 9s 9d ; shorn lambs, Us to lis /d ; 2-tooth ewes, 16s 6d to 18s 3d ; 4, 6 and fresh full-mouthed ewes, 15s ?d to 1/s; aged ewes, lis 3d to 13s 6d ; culls, /s 6d to 10s 3d ; forward 2 and 4-tooth wethers, 16s 6d to l/s Qcl ; 2-tooth wethers, 14s 6d to 15s gel. 230 rams of all classes were in keen demand. Lincoln rams from P. Crago, 4 to 5J j guineas; from R. Peake, 5% to 6N guineas ; 2-tooth Romney rams, to 5'J4 guinaas; English Leicester rams, from J. Jordan, to 4 guineas ; J. Forrest, 5 H guineas; Tirau, l? 4 guineas ; Shropshire rams, C. Day, 4 guineas; E. G. Parker, \\i guineas.
McNicol and Company, report as follows :
At Tc Kuiti on Wednesday, we yarded 1000 head of well-bred cattle. There was a large attendance, notwithstanding the heavy rain that i'ell most of the morning'. Prices for grown cattle were easier than those ruling in Waikato, but young cattle met with a good demand and sold readily. There were 200 grown cattle penned. 3% and 4-year bullocks, in fresh condition, £5 Is to £5 10s ; 2\i and 3-year steers, £4 to £4155; 2year steers, £3 3s to £3 7s 6d ; 15 and 18-month steers, £2 8s to £2 14; yearlings, 36s to 38s; empty 2!- 2 -year heifers, £2 19s to £3 I2s 6d ; 2-year heifers, in calf, £2 6s ; 15 to 18-monlh heifers, 31s 6d to £2; good calves (steers), 30s ; mixed sexes, 24s Cd to 25s 6d ; younger sorts .16s to 1/s. There were 600 sheep penned, and all sold at the hammer. Fresh fulmouthed ewes, I2s 8d lo 13s /<]; 2 and 4-tooth wethers, 14s 8d ; shorn lambs, 9s ; 2-tooth English Leicester rams, ls4 guineas.
