Waitomo County Council. CONSOLIDATED BY-LAW, 1906. "DY-LAW made by the Waitomo ■£> County Council under and by virtue of " The 'Counties Act, 1886," and its amendments, " The Public Works Act, 1905," and all other Acts and powers whatever enabling it in that behalf; to come into force on the first day of March. 1907. INTRODUCTORY. _ 1. This By-law may be cited or referred to as "The Consolidated Bylaw, 1906 " and shall come into force on the first day of March, one thousand nine hundred and seven and shall apply to the whole of the Waitomo County. 2. In this By-law, except where inconsistent with the context: — " Cattle" includes any horse, mare, gelding, colt, filly or foal; any bull, cow, ox, steer, heifer or calf; any ram, ewe, wether or lamb ; and any ass, mule, goat, boar, sow or other pig. "County" means the Waitomo Cou.ity. ".Council " means the Waitomo "County Council. " County Clerk " means the Clerk of the Waitomo County Council " Heavy Traffic " means (a) The transportation of any vehicle, engine or machine which itself, or together with any - thing or things being transported thereon, weighs more than one and a-half tons avoirdupois to each pair of wheels ; (b) The traction of any vehicle or thing by means of bullocks, notwithstanding that such vehicle or thing may separately or together with any load thereon weigh less than one and a-tons avoirdupois ; (c) Any traffic which may from time to time be declared " heavy traffic " by Order-in-Council. HEAVY TRAFFIC.

3. No person shall "conduct or engage in " heavy traffic "Vs defined in this By-law on any road\within the County at any time during the months of May, June, July, August knd September in any year, \ 4. No person shall conduct 'or engage in " heavy traffic " as defined in this By-law over any road in\the County, unless and until such perstm shall have entered into a bond with the Chairman, Councillors and Inhabit tants of the County, to secure payment to them of the cost of repairing and making good, to the satisfaction of the Council, any special damage caused by such heavy traffic. And such bond shall be in the sum of two hundred pounds with two sureties. 5.
