PIRONGIA RACES.

The annual meeting of the Alexandra Racing Club was held at Pirongia on Boxing Day. The weather was all that could be desired, and a large visiting contingent was present from the King Country and Waikato, including Mr Greenslade and Mr Lang, M's.H.R. The fields in most of the events were large, and except in the hurdle event, some interesting races were witnessed. Mr C. C. Berry, secretary, worked hard for the success of the meeting, and Mr G. Berry wielded the starter's flag. A concert and dance was held in the public hall after the races, and an excellent programme was got through. The following are the results of the racing : Handicap Hurdles, 2 miles. —Mr Olen's Rouseabout9.3,l, Mr Harper's Fairy 10.7, 2. Frenchman and Dhudeen also started.

Maiden Plate, I mile. —Mr Harper's Pitoitoi 7.8, I, Mr Kempthorne's Harkaway 7.10, 2. Also started: Materoa, Nestling and Golden Gem. Alexandra Cup, IIAl l A miles. —Mr Hoffman's Repeater 7.0, I, Mr Harper's Te Taniwha 9.10, 2. Matahura and Kingsman also started. Matakitaki Stakes, once round the course. —Mr Morris' Mistake 9.0, I, Mr Ferguson's Hero 9.7, 2. Materoa, Harkaway and Orella also ran. Flying Stakes, 6 . furlongs. —Mr Morris' Lecnette 9.0,-1, Mr Henderson's Ngawai 7.7, 2. Alexandra Bracelet, I mile and a distance. —Mr T. H. Bond's Pukunui 11.7, I, Mr Harper's Te Taniwha 12.3, 2. Also started : Frenchman, Rouseabout, Aldershot and Dhudeen. Forced Handicap, 7 furlongs, —Pitoitoi I.
