Meeting al Toe Toe,

The annual athletic sports gathering at Ohura, was held at Toe Toe, on Monday, December 171 li. The weather was alt thai could be desired, and settlers, from far and near foregathered to participate in the day's outing. A feature of the programme was the chopping and sawing events, and the interest evinced in the various contests, showed lliat (lie popularity of these items, was certainly nol on the wane. The fool races proved to lie a benefit for one competitor, who, having no performances, was liberally favoured by the handicappers, and won the cup, mile, and half-mile events, with something to spare. In other respects, the handicapping was all that could be desired, and some, highly interesting contests were provided, especially in wood-chopping and sawing events. The Secretary, Mr R. (I.
