OTOROHANGA.
The Native Land Court, presided over by Chief Judge Palmer, completes its sitting this week and leaves on Saturday for Rotorua. Judge Mair takes up the work next week. A young man, named Buctucn, met with an accident at Hauturu last Saturday, wh-: rcby his leg was broken. On Monday he was brought to Otorohanga on a sledge and taken to the Hamilton hospital. The last rain has started the blight. The crops of potatoes, however, are mostly well grown, and so there cannot be a total loss as there was last year. The school concert is to take place on Friday, the 14th inst., and great interest is as usual being taken., in it. Over £7 worth of shilling tickets have been sold already (Monday), and people are coming in from the put districts to stop over the concert night. More interest is attached to this than to any other performance throughout the year, all of which is very gratifying to the teachers. The funds spent in obtaining a present for each child, and prizes for the deserving ones. - Influenza is fairly rife in the district, and usually necessitates a few days from active work.
