OUR HAMILTON LETTER.
The Government Valuer (Mr Hyde) is at present engaged in making a revaluation of the Borough of Hamilton, and there is every liklihood of the values being once more " raised." This is the second valuation made by the Department in the last three years, and at this rate I think Hamilton will shortly be a good place to get out of. A largely attended meeting of the Rowing Club was held on Friday evening last in the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Co.'s at Hamilton, to discuss the advisability of holding a regatta upon the Waikato river. After some discussion it was unanimously resolved to hold a regatta in January next. A programme was drafted out and prize money amounting to nearly £SO was allotted to the different races, which consist of gig races, swimming events, greasy boom, etc. Numerous Auckland crews will take part in the races and a good day's enjoyment may be looked forward to. The Railway Department will run trains for the regatta from all parts, and application has been made to the Department to run the morning train on the day of the regatta from Te Kuiti instead of Te Awamutu as was stipulated by them.
