HANGATIKI.
A large gang of men are now at work upon the Waitomo road, and about eight waggons are busy carting a sandy substance, obtained from that conspicuous cliff near the Hangatiki station. Similar material, which was put down last year, withstood the rain and traffic of winter, and is still in good order. A considerable quantity is being put down now, and there "is no doubt it will make a good road. All those who were unfortunate enough to pass over the Mangapu bridge during the winter will be pleased to hear that its western approach is being metalled. This part lies so low that in the wet weather it was impassible, and a temporary road was made through a paddock, but not before several vehicles were bogged, Last Wednesday, while playing rounders at school, a boy named Lynn Wilson, struck his hand against a post marking one of the "dens," and broke the rsdius of his right arm near the wrist. On Thursday he had it set by the doctor at Te Awam.utu, and the injured limb is now progresslag favourably,
