The Hon. J. Carrol, Native Minister, who has been seriously ill with pneumonia, is now making progress towards recovery. Constable McCarthy, of Kawhia, has just completed taking the agricultural statistics for that county. Mr Toomath, is the manager of the Marakopa Milling Company is now erecting a flax mill at Marakopa. Mr T. Burd, district Road Engnieer, is still indisposed though his condition has improved somewhat. Mr W. W. MqCardle topped the poll at the Kawhia Town Board election. ... The Hon. A. Pitt, who is at present at Christchurch, had a surgical operation performed on himself yesterday. His condition is serious, but doctors axe hopeful. The Hon. R. McNab, Minister for Lands, was banqueted.by his constituents at Wyndham, on Tuesday. The Premier, speaking at the banquet to the Minister of Lands, denied that the Government had any intention of interfering with the existing freeholds of farmers ; their object was to prevent the aggregation of large estates.
