MANGAROA.
A very successful social and dance was held on Monday, October 29th, the occasion being a presentation to Mr E. J. Early on his departure from the district. Much interest was taken in the function by settlers and friends generally. Although very short notice was given of Mr Early's removal from the district, a goodly number turned / up, and a most enjoyable time was ? spent, dancing being indulged in till a late hour. An excellent supper was
M provided, to which ample justice was ■ done, after which the presentation, ■ consisting of a handsome dressing ■ case, was made by Mr G. Loveday. Pf Mr Early suitably responded. Music ; was supplied by Messrs Dence, Mc ' ; Calister and Gordenson, .and songs and recitations were contributed during the evening. Several ladies and gentlemen were present from Matiere, including Mr and Mrs Hyde, Miss Bond, (Te Kuiti), and others. Mr CMailey kindly lent his hall for the occasion.
