MANGAOTAKI.
Most of those settlers who took up their sections some fifteen months ago, have been busy with bush-felling operations, and about 1600 acres have been cleared, ready for burning, this coming season. The greatest area, some 1000 acres, has been felled on Messrs Good and Co.'s block, artd other settlers, including Messrs J. Hill, Mathiesoii, Nelson, Aulder Bros., Carmichael, Higginson, Evans, Lindsay, and D. Anderson, are responsible for the clearing of areas varying in size, from 20 to 200 acres.
There is a probability of the post office shortly being shifted to a position that will be much more central forthemajority of the settlers. "Several of the settlers at Rataiiui, at the head of the Mangaotaki Valley, have -not yet commenced operations on their properties, which is to be regretted, but our population is gradually increasing. Messrs R. and J. Armstrong are expected here at Christmas.
