Val Vousden.

Unequalled in merit here stands Mr Vai Vousden’s exhibition, on Saturday night, of ventriloquism, elocution and mimicry. Never before have a Kaikoura audience had such a clever entertainer before them. Added to which his bill-oi-fare is of a very high-class order—indeed it appears to be above the heads of some of his audience, which is, in itself, a strong recommendation. As a character impersonator he is surpassingly good. The imitation of Sir Henry Irving, the famous English tragedian, m two of his great Shakesperiau parts, was a splendid piece of acting, and won for Mr Vousden rapturous applause. His “ Mrs O’Rourke” sketch, the intensity of humour, produced screams of laughter. His ventriloquial contributions were in keeping with the high character of the entertainment in every particular, everything being done in a graceful and finished manner. In this fiart of the programme the genial rishman exhibits his wonderful powers of mimicry. He was good throughout, but his greatest success was the imitation of a horse cantering up to one, as it were, and passing on, the clatter oi* hoofs fading away in the distance. Next in order came the eviction of a Scotch terrier—but, there, all his imitations are excellent. From opening to close, the entertainment, of two hours’ duration, is one that every person of intelligence, who can appreciate Mr Vousden’s talents, will enjoy to his heart’s content. Mr Vousden makes his second and last appearance here tomorrow evening..
