“The Happy Luellas.”
This rather clevei’ combination opened to a crowded house in the Town Hall on Boxing Night, and appeared to satisfactory business Monday and last night. Mr and Mrs Luella are the chief attractions. Miss Polly Robinson (Mrs Luella) is a very pleasing singer, all her contributions finding general acceptance. Mr Luella appears to advantage in all his acrobatic performances (especially high-kicking), and he entertains his audience thoroughly with his performing dogs and monkey—a very well trained trio. Miss Belle Rainford is a clever skirt dancer, and Mr Morton Prior a good vocalist -both sentimental and humorous. We did not see Mr Hanson to advantage on the opening night, but he acquitted himself satisfactorily subsequently. The Luella’s gave a bright variety show, very suitable for a holiday night’s diversion.
