Religious Trouble in Fiji.
Sydney, Feb 21 The Wesleyan Mission is much exercised over news of religious trouble in Fiji. Rewa, chief of Maitamtobua, it is alleged $ for political reasons and on account of a quarrel with Methodist Minister, joined the Church of Rome and urged the people to follow his example. He collected Bibles, hymn books, and all Wesleyan literature accessible, and sent it to the Catholic Mission at Naililiwi and there burnt them in lime. Cardinal Moran admits that 238 Bibles were burnt. He says Methodists had been preying on the natives.
