London, Sept 12 British tobacconists state that the American Trust lost a million and a half sterling in a futile attempt to capture the British market. Serious disturbances have occurred at the Bethesda Quarry. Lord Penrhyn declines to meet a deputation, owing to their behaviour towards the workers. Brisbane, Sept 13 The township of Landsborough is in grave danger of being swept away by a bush fire, which has been raging round the place for two days. A detachment of police has been sent to rescue the women and children, and assist in fighting the fire.
