Drowning Fatalities.

Timaru, March 8 Through the Orari river being in flood, a woman was washed down the river with a horse and trap, yesterday, and drowned. The mail coach from Geraldine was also swept down the Wahi, a woman and girl being drowned. Later Passengers drowned by coach accident at MacKenzie’s crossing, Waihi river, were Mrs Scott, of Woodbury, and a- child of Pizzey, of Lyttelton, aged 18 months. Other passengers narrowly escaped. Driver Scott had taken precaution to first cross river by himself and then returned and took lady passengers and one man. Accident was caused by horse stumbling and falling in midstream bringing other horses down.
