Valuation Dept., State I Forests, Lands for Settlement and ' Education votes all passed. There was considerable debate oo Stoke Orehanage when Education was considered. Attempt to reduce vote failed. Estimates now all passed. Sept 27 On Wednesday, Criminal Code and Testators Family Maintenance Bills , read tnird time in the Council. Shops and Offices Bill further considered in Committee and reported with amendment, principal being to provide that the offices and wholesale houses shall close on Saturday, except that the uccu;ier o! an office may, by giving notice, close on the stututary half holiday. In House, the Railway and Post! Office Bills passed after long debate m ; which Stcka Orphanage again cropped j up. Industrial Schools BtU read I second timeSept 18 In the Council, yesterday, Shops and Public Health Bills read third time. In Committee stage latter was amended in several clauses, the most notable being that an inspector is given power to eater piemiaes and inspect meat and produce ‘ which had recently been sold.' Hospitals Biil passed. Pensions Amendment Bill passed second reading, Committee and thir4 | reading in the House.
