PIGEON SHOOTING.

A series of pigeon shooting matches take place at Waiau on the 2nd of January, when 200 strong birds will be provided. Several valuable prizes are to be offered.

The Wellington Provincial Gti n Club hold a big meeting on the 23rd January. Tbe chief event is tbe Grand Handicap of £lOO, the prizes being £65, £2O, £lO and £5. It is a 9-bird match. Nominations, of which 2 are allowed, close on the 4th of January.
