Canterbury 88—Cuff 28, Labatt 12, M’Farlane 12—and 168 for 5 wiekets, thus requiring 152 to save defeat. In match England v. S. Australia, visitors went first to wickets, and at close of day’s play had lost 6 wickets for 340 runs. Lockwood 39, Ward 41, Stoddart 65, Brown (not out) 95, Peel 0, Brockwell 45, Ford 47, not out. In match, in Sydney, Metropolis v. Combined Country team, former scored 696 runs in first innings. Gregory and Donuan both retired after making 201 each. Country team was defeated by an inniugs aud 394 runs.
