Student.—Altruism is derived from the Italian. Altrui is Italian, the French being autrui, others, from the Latin alter, another. Altruism is devotion to others, or to humanity: the . antipodes of selfishness. Altruistic, pertaining or relating to altruism ; regardful of others. —We decline to enter into the merits of a dispute occurring between members of a semi-private organisation.
