A London telegram says that New Zealand hemp is in moderate demand. Ninety-four bales sold at from 15s to 20s per ton advance on last quotation. Not sufficient to wake up the industry. The members of the recently formed Dramatic Club have decided to give their first entertainment on the 19th inst., for the benefit of Mrs Templeman. The first part will comprise musical selections, while the proceedings will conclude with a capital two act drama entitled ‘ First Mate.’ The object and the ‘ bill of fare ’ should, together, induce a bumper house, which we trust will be the reward of the promoters.
