Couple of earthquake shocks this afternoon.
Intoxicants are to be abolished from Bellamy's. Mr F. H. Flower has been appointed local agent for the s.s. Wakatu. Mr A. S. Collins has just obtained, from the South, a couple of well-bred Ayrshire cows.
Queensland shearers committing acts of incendiarism, and threatening the lives of their mates.
Mutual on Tuesday evening. ‘Editor’s paper'night: contributions to be sent in not later than Monday. On Tuesday Capt Davidson’s son Bobby, by some unfortunate mischance, rebroke his fractured thigh-bone, necessitating another operation by Dr Gunn. Messrs Maxton & Co. report sales on Wednesday at from £4 to £6 for cows of second grade. There were buyers for other lines advertised, but vendors failed to bring them forward, doubtless on account of unfavorable weather.
The Wellington Evening Press of Saturday last says : —‘ The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company transferred their account a week or two ago to the Union Bank of Australia.’ Hum ! Got the ‘ straight tip,' eh ? A novel exhibition is to be given here on Saturday, the 14th inst., when an American ‘ Cow- Boy ’ will give a performance of his equestrian skill in one of Mr T. Boyd’s paddocks. The exhibition should attract a large attendance. Space precludes further notice tonight. Another Open Meeting is to be held by the North Star Lodge next Monday evening, when the members of the Lodge will entertain those who attend. There are a good many- residents who look forward with pleasureable anticipations to these monthly meetings. Being free, they are, of course, all the more acceptable.
