Egyptian Friction
CAIRO, Jan 23 Situation in Egypt is strained, and Khedive will probably be compelled to retract his hostile criticisms on condition of frontier forces. Owing to strictures passed by Khedive on British officers in Egypt, BrigadierGeneral Kitchener, C. 8., C.M.G., has resigned his position as Sirdar of the Egyptian Army. Lord Cromer has demanded apology from the Khedive, who is expected to issue a minute praising frontier forces, and ordering Under-Secretary for War to resign.
