SPARROW CLUB.
A meeting of the Sparrow Club Committee was held at the conclusion of the ploughing match meeting. Present— Messrs Taylor, Barrett, Smith, Peoples, Close, Warren and Jamison, the latter presiding. ■ The Chairman reported that he had not communicated with the Kaiapoi Farmers' Club, respecting the proportions of wheat and poison used, as he was of opinion the information would be supplied when purchasing strychnine. Mr W. ’D. Smith handed in his subscription list, which showed £7 10s as the result of his efforts. He stated there were several whom he had not been able to see, who would no doubt subscribe. Conversational discussion followed. Mr Warren stated that Mr Bullen advised him that the best plan was to steep the wheat, then dry it. and again steep it. Messrs Taylor and Close were authorised to obtain the wheat and rape seed, also the poison, and prepare the same for distribution, and when ready, to notify by advertisement in the Stab, the day on which supplies can be obtained. The meeting then adjourned.
