THE SPORTS.

[TO THI BXWTOt ISkSQkWOk TIKIS.] Sib,— ln view of the utter inutility of the coming sports, upon general grounds I think it would not be amiss, by way of stealing a crumb oat of the fire, to deduct say 10 per cent from the priae money as a donation to the local hospital. The in* stitntion requires means bad enough, and although most people have subscribed to the sports, they have not dona so oat of pure love of that class of amusement, bat simply because th*y have been in a sense compelled to, aid would much prefer to have given their money to some better object. I am sure that none of the priae winners would object to such a deduction, but perhaps it would be as well for the stewards to announce the faot at the time the entries are received. I am, &c, StrnciißSß. i ReeftoD, March 15, 1877.
