WEEKLY LUNCHEON

ROTARY CLUB OF PAEROA ADDRESS BY MR T. MACKY The usual weekly luncheon of the Rotary Club of Paeroa was held in the club’s rooms on Wednesday, the president, Mr C. N. presiding over a good attendance of members. Guests for the day were Captain C. A. Blackwood, >Sgt. R. J. Hannaford, Messrs T. E. Owen, A. A. Jenkinson and G. W. Moore. The speaker for the day was Mr T. Macky, of Auckland, who addressed the gathering on the task of Rotary to encourage and foster the advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional men united in the idea of service. A vote of thanks to the speaker was proposed by Dr. F. L. Clark and carried by acclamation. A committee comprising Messrs P. H. Leigh, L. V. Landman, C. Kenny, P. Williams, R. -S. Carden, N. C. Davies and Dr. F. L .Clark was appointed to assist in the formation of a branch of the Crippled Children’s Society in the Thames Hospital Board’s district. Messrs C. N. O’Neill, J. L. Brown, D. Leach, J. Cummins, W. E. Westlake, C. E. James and J. Bartlett were appointed a committee to consider activities in regard to assistance to youth development movements.
