ANZAC SERVICE

CEREMONY AT KAIHERE FUNCTION HELD IN THE HALL Owing to the inclement weather, the Anzac 'Service at Kaihere was held at the hall instead of at the War Memorial Pavilion. There was a very large attendance. The Salvation Army Band from Thames was in attendance.

The service opened with a short address by Mr A. <G. Davis, chairman of the Kaihere War Emergency Committee. The Rev. Cramond led the meeting in prayer and read the lesson. Commandant Sawyer delivered the address.

There was a strong representation of the 2nd. N.Z.E.F. present. Wreaths were placed at the foot of the hall by Paeroa-Hauraki Returned Services Association, Women’s War Service Auxiliary, Kaihere School Children, Kaihere Women’s Institute and by the general public. The “Last Post” was sounded by a member of the 2nd. N.Z.E.F. The sum of £5 13s 0d was collected for the Paeroa-Hauraki Returned Services Association.
